Status: Exempt Type of Position: Full Time Salary Range: Based on Experience Reports To: Director of Finance Job Summary The Senior Accountant is responsible for maintaining accounting records and ensuring the timely, accurate and complete reporting of financial data at PACE of Southwest Michigan.
Specifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent with a minimum of three (3) years’ previous financial experience required.
Previous healthcare experience and Medicaid and Medicare coding/billing/reporting knowledge preferred.
Experience: Previous health care experience and Medicaid and Medicare coding/billing/reporting knowledge preferred Number/Type of Employees Supervised: None Licensure, Registry, or Certification Required: CPR training upon hire.
Special Training: Only acts within scope of practice.

Immunizations: Be medically cleared for communicable diseases and have all immunizations up to date before engaging in direct participant contact.

Ages of Patients Rendered Care: Adult, Geriatric Key Responsibilities · Perform account analysis and reconciliation of the General Ledger (GL) account balances, · Complete and post various monthly journal entries, · Complete month-end close and preparation of the draft monthly financial statements, · Reconcile revenue from all payer sources including Medicare, Medicaid, and Private Pay, · Responsible for daily bank activity sheet and prepares monthly bank reconciliation, · Maintain and reconcile fixed asset lapse schedules, · Maintain debt amortization schedules, · Responsible for maintaining the corporate credit cards and prepare the monthly statement reconciliation, · Responsible for Accounts Payable entry into GL and issuance of payable checks weekly, · Responsible for scanning and electronic filing of all AP to include check stub, and invoice, · Bi-weekly payroll preparation, · Prepare monthly reconciliation of employee benefit invoices, · Prepare annual 1099s and 1096, · Assist during annual financial audit, · Assist with preparation of the annual budget, · Responsible for various data compliance and reporting with outside agencies, · Participate in various quality improvement initiatives, · Back-up for Financial Analyst with cross-training on role and duties, · Abides by all established PACE of Southwest Michigan policies, · Support and provide leadership to Finance team, · Prepare initial variance analysis for Director of Finance to identify reasons for fluctuations at month end, · Prepare additional reconciliation due to Peak implementation, · Preparation of reconciliations and journal entries for balance sheet accounts, · Manage back end of enrollment/disenrollment through CMS, · Manage enrollment tracking by updating monthly spreadsheet, · Manage EDV monthly audit, · Assist Director of Finance by updating dashboard information, · Manage payroll processing function, as well as ensuring all payroll compliance is completed by Paylocity monthly, quarterly, and annually, · Support the Peak implementation by reconstruction of our reconciliation process with Peak for month end accuracy, as well as supporting the team with any financial information needed to process claims, · Facilitate weekly Peak call to follow up on outstanding work required to properly process claims, · Provide assistance with bid preparation by gathering actual financial data to populate in the template and ensure the financial data ties out within the documentation, · Assist with providing proper documentation in support of the annual audit, · Responsible for processing reinsurance information for collection of reinsurance recoveries each year, · Provide support to Finance Department employees - including Director of Finance, · Provide support for outside department managers, as needed, · Provide support for any and all payroll related audits, · Abides by all established PACE of Southwest Michigan policies, rules, and regulations, · All other duties as assigned.
Skills and Knowledge · Proficient in data management systems · Advanced user of MS Excel for spreadsheet analytics · Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and Word · Excellent attention to detail · Excellent verbal and written communication skills · Knowledge of principles of accounting/finance · Self-directed analytical and problem-solving skill · Ability to work a flexible work schedule · Ability to work well with all PACE staff and external customer PM20 Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
