Found chair made by the B.
L.
Marble Company of Bedford, Ohio.
.
.
please look at photos.
.
.
Desk chair for secretary or lawyer.
.
.
I was all set to begin a restoration when I discovered the info and embedded badge on the bottom.
.
.
I did some research and found that these go for $250+ on eBay and Etsy.
.
.
before I list it, I thought it would be great to give a local first shot at it- it's not perfect, but if you are (or know) a chair collector, this is a find.
.
.
it's heavy and you can tell the workmanship put into its production.
.
.
from the internet: The BL Marble chair company began in Bedford OH in 1894 and closed in 1985.
The Marble and Shattuck Chair Company preceded it.
The company produced all chair types until the 20's when it focused on commercial chairs for bankers, barristers and the like.
Very fine quality chairs that do hold value as antiques.
During WW I they also produced wooden propellers for the military.
The Bedford (OH) Historical Society has many of the chairs and 3 propellers on display.
They are apparently also eager to assist owners with identifying and dating your particular chair model to the best of their ability.
