NDT Inspector III - Site Lead

Job Summary Performs Non-Destructive Testing procedures necessary to supply our customer with high quality inspection.
Supervisory Responsibilities Manage and train in-training and Level II NDT Inspectors Supervision Reports to Quality Implementation Manager, and Corporate Responsible Level 3.
Receives little or minimal guidance with respect to general objectives; in most tasks and projects assigned, work sequence, scheduling, and how to achieve objectives of assignments; operates within specific policy guidelines.
Duties / Responsibilities Have the skills and knowledge to interpret codes, standards, and other contractual documents that control the NDT method(s).
Assumes technical responsibility for the NDT facility and staff.
Capable of selecting the method and technique for a specific inspection.
Prepares and verifying the adequacy of procedures and work instructions.
Approve NDT procedures and work instructions for technical adequacy.
Have a general knowledge of other NDT methods and product manufacturing and inspection technologies used by IFT or its suppliers.
Provides or directs training, examination, and certification of personnel.
Conduct NDT for the acceptance of parts and document the results if a demonstration of proficiency in this ability was included in the practical examination.
When required by the written practice, be capable of auditing outside agencies to ensure the requirements of the written practice are met.
Review and approve sequencing of operations as defined in QOP-09-08 and QOP-09-10.
Be accountable for the training and examination of NDT personnel.
Inspect parts for nicks, dings, blisters, & color distortion Have the skills and knowledge to process parts and perform equipment standardization in accordance with written instructions approved by the responsible level 3.
Have the skill and knowledge to carry out any necessary preparation of parts before and after inspection in accordance with written instructions approved by the appropriate level 3.
Be able to follow written instructions in the techniques/methods for which certified.
“NDT” Technician Training and Qualifications QIP-18-005 Maintains clean and organized work area.
All documents and records are always audit ready.
Participate in a proactive team effort to achieve departmental and company goals.
Work in hot and cold temperatures – seasonal Move 10-30 lbs.
on a repetitive basis without assistance.
Works overtime as required.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience High School Diploma or Equivalent Must possess basic knowledge of product manufacturing and inspection technology.
Must have all applicable NDT training hours completed to be certified as an NDT Level 3 in both MPI and FPI.
Must pass appropriate levels of NDT certification, as applicable to the position.
Job Level This position operates as a Site Lead Level 3 and reports to the company’s Responsible Level 3 for guidance.
Role model for adherence to quality systems/procedures.
This position will be in training to become a Responsible Level 3 for Imagineering.
Those duties will include: Act on Imagineering’s behalf in matters regarding the NDT qualification and certification process.
Shall be certified in accordance with NAS410 and this written practice as a Level 3 in one or more NDT methods and shall have a thorough knowledge of the written instructions, codes, specifications, and standards used by IFT.
Shall also have a thorough knowledge of the materials, components, product technologies, NDT methods and NDT techniques used by IFT.
Conduct internal audits of the NDT process.
Shall be responsible for the implementation of this written practice and the overall administration of the qualification and certification program.
Shall ensure the review and implementation of customer NDT requirements, the sequencing of NDT operations, NDT procedure development and approval, technique development/review and approval, training of NDT personnel and examination of NDT personnel.
Shall apply and become certified for each customer requiring separate Level 3 approvals (Boeing, Honeywell, Rolls-Royce, etc.
).
Job Complexity Assignments are moderately complex in nature where advanced problem solving, prioritizing, and communicating with all levels of plant and management personnel is a necessity.
Travel Local and overnight travel may be required.
