**This position will start on or after January 1, 2024 POSITION SUMMARY: The Specialist of Services is responsible for assisting in day-to-day end user technology operations (workstation, peripherals, network and file access, procurement, vendor management, incident management) throughout the City.
Assists in the evaluation, planning, and implementation of services.
Represents the services function related to capacity, continuity, availability, security, and change management.
Makes recommendations for technology architecture.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: None.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversee all static and mobile end-point assets, including computers, laptops, tablets, peripherals, phones, and multi-function printer copiers.
Assist in maintaining the relationship with vendor-managed Help Desk for incident management, including escalation to internal City resources.
Troubleshoot and resolve Tier 2 and 3 level HelpDesk requests.
Assists with hardware and software deployment, including lease-refresh and technology needs for project implementation.
Assist in maintaining vendor relationships for procurement, discovery, and new solution implementation.
Oversee all user technology security rights.
Coordinate and implement technology projects or upgrades for City systems.
NON-ESSENTIAL/MARGINAL FUNCTIONS: Performs other duties and assumes other responsibilities as apparent or as delegated.
EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related area of study preferred.
Significant professional experience will be considered in place of a degree Minimum 2 years of IT operations experience.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY: Strong interpersonal written and oral communication skills.
Excellent organization skills.
Self-motivated with keen attention to detail.
Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a professional manner.
Ability to analyze problems and select proper corrective action.
Ability to work independently and as a team member.
Experience with directory services and support (Active Directory).
Experience in IT operations including incident management and troubleshooting.
