SUMMARY: The Aviation Chief Engineer takes charge of the engineering department, leading the team as they complete various projects.
The Aviation Chief Engineer works alongside other engineers, approving designs, calculating cost, communicating with OEM’s/Clients and executing plans safely and efficiently.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Lead engineering team in research, design, development, testing, tooling, manufacturing, and ongoing support for product lines.
• Communicate with OEM’s/Clients to resolve product concerns/issues and support ongoing improvements.
• Communicate and work with all departments such as purchasing, sales, operations, quality, and customer service as needed in support of our products.
• Establish reliability standards and ensure product reliability.
• Follow policies and procedures in the maintenance manuals, VSE Aviation Quality Assurance Manual, Engineering Manual, and Safety Manuals as required.
• Support product teams through the new product development process including, but not limited to, production specifications, design reviews, model development and associated drawings.
• Propose and make ongoing improvements to products, the associated production process and testing equipment as appropriate.
• Develop and propose new testing, design, manufacturing, and aviation product ideas.
• Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor's degree
• 7+ years of relevant/technical work experience OR
• An additional 3 years of specific work experience in lieu of degree.
• A sound understanding of engineering principles.
• The ability to maintain a positive attitude and restore morale to a team.
• The ability to stand, sit and walk for extended periods of time.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• The ability to process negative feedback and remain professional.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook and scheduling applications.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
• Master's degree in the relevant engineering field.
• 10+ years of experience working on a team in a senior engineering role.
• Have fuel and or fuel component experience.
• Experience Supporting the following platforms, OEM – Pratt & Whitney PT6, JT15D, PW100 OEM – Rolls Royce, RR250, RR300.
